Jim Marshall Cited as Third Most Frugal
Representative
VoteTracker, a Congressional watch-dog web site, recently released a report
on Congressional expenditures. Jim Marshall was rated as the third most frugal
Congressman, spending only 65.1% of his allotted funds. Jim's frugal ways
were noted in the April 20th edition of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution's
Political Insider. The reporters noted that Jim's spending was the lowest
out of all the Georgia representatives and ranked 438 out of 440 member of
the House of Representatives (including the Delegates from Guam, Puerto Rico,
the Virgin Islands, Washington DC, and American Samoa).
Each Member of Congress receives
funds to run their office and help their constituents. Because budget
amounts for each Representative vary according to variables such as
distance from Washington, DC, typical office rent in their district,
and the number of addresses in their district, VoteTracker ranks the
members based on the percentage of their budget spent, rather than
the total amount spent.
