MARSHALL ENDORSED BY DISABLED VETERANS’ GROUP

The Circle of Friends for American Veterans, through its publication Veterans Vision, has endorsed Congressman Jim Marshall for re-election.

Veterans Vision and the Circle of Friends for American Veterans work to raise awareness of the issues facing many American veterans – particularly homeless veterans. A long-standing organization, the group endorses political candidates on the basis of the candidate’s record and interest in veteran’s issues.

For Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, Veterans Vision has endorsed Jim Marshall for re-election. In their explanation of the endorsement, Veterans Vision highlighted Marshall’s commitment to veterans and noted that “…Congressman Jim Marshall hands down is one of the most vocal supporters of veterans in the U.S. Congress.”

This group is the 48th veteran’s organization to endorse Marshall in 2004.

The full text of Veterans Vision’s endorsement of Marshall, which can be found online at http://vetsvision.org/Veteran_sVision%202004.pdf, follows:

A former Army Ranger and Vietnam Veteran, Congressman Jim Marshall hands down is one of the most vocal supporters of veterans in the U.S. Congress. Also the son and grandson of U.S. Army generals, Rep. Marshall dropped out of Princeton to enlist in the Army during Vietnam. Rep. Marshall is also spearheading the fight to keep the Veteran’s Employment and Training Service Program at the Department of Labor. The American Legion strongly opposes current efforts to move this program to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Rep. Marshall supports the Legion’s position. And Veterans’ Vision supports Rep. Marshall and his re-election.

The Veterans Vision website is located at http://vetsvision.org.

A decorated Vietnam veteran, Marshall’s support in Congress for veterans and his efforts to end the Disabled Veterans Tax have earned him awards and praise from veterans organizations and veterans nationwide.

For his efforts on behalf of disabled veterans, Marshall was the first freshman member of Congress to receive the American Legion’s Unsung Hero Award, the Military Officer’s Association of America’s Arthur T. Marix Congressional Leadership Award, the Disabled American Veterans Marine Sword and Sheath Award, the Uniformed Service Disabled Retirees Steven Wolonsky Award, and the Retired Enlisted Association’s Award of Excellence.
